Summer Professional Development workshop (2021)

Welcome to the first Molecular CaseNet Summer Professional Development workshop to write molecular case studies at the interface of Biology and Chemistry.PDB ID 6rwk

  • Who should Apply? If you are
    • An undergraduate faculty teaching biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or other sub-discipline of biology or chemistry
    • Interested in including biomolecular structure-function discussions in your class
    • Note: You must be teaching at a US University, college, community college or similar institution. Also you must have access to computers and the internet to participate in this virtual workshop.
  • When is the workshop?
  • Why should you join? You will
    • learn to navigate through the PDB (www.rcsb.org) and use its data, tools, and links to other bioinformatics data resources
    • use various molecular visualization software and create ready-made interactive scenes for your cases
    • write molecular case studies independently and/or in collaboration with other participants in the workshop
    • get authorship on molecular case studies when it is published
    • network with educators with similar interests from around the nation
    • get a stipend for your contributions, and
    • also get the opportunities to present your work in regional and national conferences
  • What will you need to do?
    • Attend the entire week-long workshop (synchronous engagement between 10a-noon and 1-3p ET on each day). (see Agenda)
    • Work  on completing the case(s) you are writing by Dec., 2021
    • Pilot or help with piloting the case(s) and prepare them for publication on QUBES and Molecular CaseNet.
    • Participate in ~4-5 additional follow up meetings through the Fall and Spring semesters and a refresher workshop in late spring of 2022.
    • Engage 1-2 of your colleagues, collaborators, and friends in using and developing molecular case studies on topics of their choice.
